Welcome to the Yellow Breeches Middle School Counseling website!

We're glad you stopped by!  Browse through the menu options for updates, resources, and support as your child goes through middle school.  Feel free to reach out to Mr. Barrick or Mrs. Klock for any support your child may need during his or her middle years.

Dear YBMS Families,

Over the last few days, the YBMS Counselors have thought a lot about how we can be a resource to you and your children over the next few weeks until things return a bit closer to normal. We want you to know that even though schools are closed, we are still here to help as we can.  Even though we cannot be present with each other, we feel it will be helpful to establish a new and ongoing “presence” among the YBMS community.

We will continually check our school e-mails and phone messages and do our best to respond in as quick a manner as possible.
Please know that we might not be able to answer some questions that relate to school operation.  For that information, please refer to information that is posted by the school district. Please remember to use the appropriate resources in the event of a mental health emergency. We will include resource information at the end of this letter.

e also want to find other ways that we can help stay connected to students and families because one of the biggest challenges we face as a community is dealing with the isolation that comes along with the increased need to maintain social distance. Mrs. Klock and Mr. Barrick have set up two social media accounts for the YBMS counselors that you and your children are welcome to follow. You can follow us @YBMS_counselors on both Snapchat and Instagram. We plan to update these accounts with helpful information about taking care of your mental health and to create dialogues to help students process the events that they are living through.

Moving forward, we would like to pull in other ways that we can use technology to stay connected. We hope that this letter is a starting point of dialogue for how we, the YBMS counselors, can support you and your students during this unprecedented time.  We value each of our students and their families, and we want you to know that we care!

Safe2Say - this is a resource students and families can use to report concerns they may have about any situation involving a student, and can be particularly helpful during this time where they don’t have the opportunity to seek out a staff member in school if they are concerned about a friend.
